How Hazmat Training Works

A Clear, Instructor-Led Process

  1. 01

Meet With Bill for a Short Virtual Orientation

Meet with Bill virtually for a short orientation so you understand the training process and what comes next.

    You must have:

    • Reliable internet access
    • A working camera
    • A working microphone

You will also need to show your driver’s license so Bill can verify your identity.

Training is presented in English. Students must be able to communicate with Bill and understand the instruction in English throughout the training process.

  2. 02

    Complete the Course Materials

Bill will provide the Hazmat training material for you to complete at your own pace.

Practice quizzes are included to help you check your understanding as you work through the material.

This is one part of the larger instructor-led True North process — not a standalone self-paced course.

  3. 03

Meet With Bill for Your Live Review and Assessment

Book a live virtual session with Bill for up to one hour to review the material, ask questions and make sure the important concepts are understood.

When you are ready, Bill administers the Hazmat Theory Assessment required for course completion.

Additional training and assessments are available at no additional charge when necessary.

Federal ELDT theory requires coverage of the applicable curriculum and an overall score of at least 80% on the theory assessment.

For Employers

Need Hazmat Training for Your Drivers?

True North’s process gives companies a more accountable training path than simply sending an employee a self-paced login and hoping the course gets completed.

Each trainee moves through a structured process with Bill Collins:

  • Short virtual orientation with identity verification
  • Hazmat course materials with practice quizzes
  • Live virtual review and Q&A of up to one hour
  • Instructor-administered theory assessment

This gives the employee direct access to an experienced CDL instructor while giving the company a defined training process for its drivers. For employer-sponsored training, True North CDL can provide appropriate training-status information, including attendance, completion status and assessment results.

Training Multiple Drivers?

True North can work with employers who need Hazmat theory training for individual drivers or groups.
